Today has been a good day. I haven’t been sleeping well lately (I blame it on weaning myself off of my SAD meds) and I’ve gone to bed at 3 AM the last two nights. On the bright side, I’ve gotten a lot done on my blog and with some other projects I’ve been working on. On the down side, I’ve been sleeping in really late to make up for it. We’ve gotten really off track with our homeschooling lately. I think we all have Spring fever and it’s made it hard for us to concentrate!
Things have been a little different at home this week. We’re all still a little down in the dumps about Buddy. Aaron has been home because he had to have a basal cell carcinoma removed from his head on Monday. The doc told him to take three days off–he’s compromising and taking two off so we’ve had him home the last two days. Hopefully he’ll heal up nicely (we take the bandage off on Thursday) and he’ll be back to his regular routine (sitting around, eating cake and bacon) by next week.
He’s prone to skin cancer because of his kidney transplant anti-rejection meds and we’re thankful it was just an annoying little basal cell spot. The girls have enjoyed making fun of his “unicorn horn implant.”
The little girls and I got up and went to the gym this morning. I did a mile of sprints on the treadmill. I usually run for a minute and then rest for a minute and I increase my mph each time until I get up to about 8 mph (7:30 pace). Obviously I can’t sustain that pace for more than a minute but I can tell that it is helping me improve my normal pace.
After 15 minutes on the treadmill I did strength training with Joanna. She usually has a good all over workout for me that leaves me sore for days! My arms and legs are feeling it tonight! This evening while the girls were in dance I got some walking time in. Layla and I walked for about 30 minutes and Madalyn and I walked for about 15 minutes (she rode her scooter). The weather was breezy and cloudy which was a perfect evening for a walk! The town they take dance in is very quaint and has some beautiful (but sadly empty/abandoned) old buildings.
I talked to Joanna today about increasing my workouts with her to twice a week for the next eight weeks. I am much more motivated if I have a scheduled time with her and I know I work harder one-on-one than I do in a class. Eight weeks will take us into June and at that point I’ll probably take some time off from personal training until August.
My goal for the next eight weeks? I have GOT to lose this 15 pounds I gained. This is not for vanity reasons but mainly for financial reasons! My summer clothes are all going to be too snug if I don’t get this weight off! I pulled out all my clothes the other day and remembered that last summer I got rid of almost all of my size 14 shorts. Eek! If I don’t lose these 15 pounds then there is no way I’m going to be able to squeeze my bootay into my size 12s.
My plan is simple. Personal training twice a week. Running three times a week. Log all my foods on My Fitness Pal and wear my BodyBugg! I reactivated my account today and I learned that the website will now interact with My Fitness Pal! I’m super excited to be using it again because it worked so well for me in the past.
If you’ve never heard of a BodyBugg it is an activity tracker that keeps up with my calories burned and steps walked. I manually enter my food onto My Fitness Pal and then the website will tell me my calorie deficit for the week. This was a great tool for me when I started my weight loss journey and I’m hoping it will help me get focused again.
